Abstract:
The purpose of this handbook is to provide a simple, yet factual explanation of the change in service providers that occurs in many states when children with disabilities reach age three. It explains the legal reasons for this transition and describes the kinds of changes families can expect to experience. It also includes a list of parents’ rights and conflict resolution strategies, as well as a listing of other available resources. This handbook uses simple text and graphics in an attempt to make this information more accessible to families. Readers seeking more extensive and comprehensive information are encouraged to consult other sources.
