Abstract

Faculty and staff programs which support the identity development of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) students are important to institutions of higher education. Effective and utilized support programs help develop the whole student and maintain them until graduation. This project sought to provide recommendations for improvement to the Ball State University Safe On Campus program which trained faculty and staff to become GLBT student allies. Review of related literature, evaluation of other university programs, evaluation of the current program, discussion with staff, and student interviews produced recommendations for improvement to the program and potential, supplemental programs.
