This nostalgic idealism has been a source of intrigue for this writer. The peculiar gap that lies between the articulated standards of the inhabitants and my perception of the real circumstances has led me to conduct this study.As an example of this gap and an elaboration of my position, I have focused upon the county's method of handling abandoned and neglected children with emphasis upon the physical structure and policies utilized in operating the Delaware County Children's Home.
