Abstract

The purpose of this creative project was to redesign the interior of an apartment building using green products and materials. The researcher aligned with an Indiana-based property management company, Sheehan Property Management. Sheehan provided the researcher with floor plans of the existing building and a budget of $5,000. The project was created to provide a sustainable design proposal that could be universally applicable within the apartment industry. The researcher created a Product Guide and Finish Guide that demonstrates the ease and possibility of a green interior redesign. The method used to complete this creative project was consistent communication between Sheehan Property Management and the researcher, analyzing products and finishes, researching Leadership in Energy and Efficient Design (LEED) standards, and creating the Product Guide and Finish Guide. The researcher was successfully able to complete an interior redesign within the restrictions of a $5,000 budget.
