Pioneers

This collection of flash fiction and short fiction centers around themes of gender, place, shifts in cultural values, borders, queerness, and immigration. In particular, the pieces feature characters who struggle with moving from one identity to another--from male to female, from Iranian to American, from East Coast to Midwestern--and what it looks like to live and around the borders that define our relationship to place and gender. The work is composed of six flash fiction stories and one short story broken up into small subsections.
