Abstract
When I left for Jamaica in December of my senior year, I had completed all of the Honors College requirements except for the thesis project. Although I didn't have my project defined, I knew I would use my study abroad experience as the source. About two weeks into the trip, I remembered one of my advisers' description of a creative thesis in which the student wrote and designed a book of poetry. I decided to take this idea and recount my trip to Jamaica.I used my journalism graphics background to design a functional and interesting book; one that would both inform and entertain the reader. I wrote the stories in a conversational manner that would give the reader insight on my daily life in Jamaica. The casual writing and airy appearance also relays the relaxed, "no problems" atmosphere of Jamaica.By using my writing, editing, photography and design skills I have created a book that I can include in my portfolio and the anthropology department can use to promote and its program and inform prospective field study students on what to expect in Jamaica.
