Abstract
A Thousand Stars examines familiar characters from the Greek myth of the Trojan War within the context of the modern or hypothetically futuristic world. The story of Helen, a woman whose beauty was so unparalleled that nations went to war and thousands were slaughtered to possess her, is deeply ingrained in Western culture. Too often this story is told and retold only in relation to the great heroes of The Iliad and the woman who drives all their actions is relegated to the background of her own mythos. This play explores Helen's relationships with the other mythological figures of her story and her own attempts to create an identity separate from the one that is expected of her.
