This thesis will:Examine the connections between affordable housing and the implementation of building science practices.Examine and provide background on what has been researched and tested in terms of affordable housing building science techniques and their applications.Investigate what barriers to building science education exist and how those barriers might be removed.Research the energy efficiency of Central Indiana Habitat homes as a benchmark for understanding the need for building science implementation.Examine Central Indiana Habitat for Humanity affiliates as organizational homebuilders to observe the potential for education in basic building science techniques.Evaluate the effectiveness of implementing building science in affordable housing construction.
