Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence that campus recreation facilities have on student recruitment. It was also designed to find out which campus recreation facility amenities prospective students would utilize if available. Participants (n = 101) for this study were randomly selected at four central Indiana high schools. All participants were either juniors or seniors.Based on the results of this survey, the most important influence on the college selection process was financial/tuition costs followed by the quality of courses offered. Campus recreational facilities ranked 6'h out of 10 selected influences. Also, the most preferred facility amenities by students were weight/fitness rooms, a cafd/lounge area, and locker rooms. The least preferred amenities were dance studios, volleyball couts, and racquetball courts.
