Abstract

While many members of the community of Muncie, Ind. and its college, Ball State University, say the university has not connected well with the city, one Ball State class is trying to change that. In the Honors College course Muncie 101, instructor Jennifer Warmer and her students are creating a Web site designed to bring Ball State students more in touch with the community they will live in for at least four years. This project adds to the Web site, allowing viewers to learn about Muncie and the people in it. Through 10 profiles, the project introduces people to those who make Muncie what it is today and shape how the city will be in the future. A variety of people who are interesting and important to the city were profiled, mostly in their own words, to show how every aspect of Muncie is different and the same as other small cities around the country. The profiles, which are included in this packet as hard copies as well as on compact disc, can be found online at http://muncie1Ol.iweb.bsu.edu/index.html under the heading "Meet Muncie."
