Abstract

In the world of theatre, the job of a props master is one that covers a multitude of facets, from planning and researching to building, acquiring, and fabricating the finalized versions of props. In Ball State University’s 2021 production of Bring It On! The Musical, I served as the props master and carried out the tasks that came with that job. This paper details my experience with those tasks and breaks down the process of creating a theatrical work, with a focus on props. The process begins with a number of different meetings, where items are organized, tracked, and built. This analysis concludes with a thorough binder and presentation board detailing everything involved in the full theatrical prop process.
