Abstract

During the Fall semester of 2006, Professor Martha Hunt directed a seminar at the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry. This seminar, Nature at Play, resulted in the creation of an educational video game to teach elementary students about the natural environments of the East Central Indiana region. The game, Navigating Nature, was based around a series of three minigames. One of these was the River Game, in which players found a wetland environment that has been unnaturally altered and attempt to restore it to a healthy state. I developed the design of this minigame, as well as did all of the programming to bring it to life. Navigating Nature, as well as the River Game, can be seen by inquiring to the Virginia B. Ball Center.
