Das Individuum und die Gesellschaft bei Bertolt Brecht : an honors thesis (HONRS 499)

This thesis is an interpretation of Bertolt Brecht's handling of the struggle of the individual in society. As a member of society one must balance one's own ambitions and actions with the demands of the society. I have used four works which illustrate this recurring theme in progressively more complex ways: Der Jasaqer, Der Neinsager, Aufstiea and Fall der Stadt Mahaaonny and Die sieben Todsunden der Kleinburger. A brief introductory discussion of the theme is followed by interpretation of this theme within each work. (In German).
