Abstract

This resource guide is designed for those with little to no prior background in education or linguistics who are asked to begin teaching at the same time they are beginning their formal studies in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). It is intended to be succinct and basic in nature, addressing the more crucial and practical aspects of teaching in order to provide new teachers with the tools and knowledge to survive and to succeed during those first few days and weeks in the classroom. So as not to overwhelm or discourage the novice teacher, this guide focuses on topics with a practical classroom application rather than lengthy theoretical aspects of teaching and learning.
