Abstract
true magazine seeks to speak to a void in the magazine industry: the absence of a well-written socially, politically and religiously conscious magazine for teenage girls. Many young women have only fitness and fashion magazines to choose from, and there is an untapped market for a magazine that breaks this mold. true is a 36-page full-color magazine that aims to be both smart and fun and includes things as varied as recipes and crafts, articles on activism and adoption, and writing and artwork from teen girls. true also seeks to promote a positive body image, seeking natural-looking models and carefully selecting its ads.
