Abstract
An Affair to Forget will be a (hopefully) unique mystery novel set in the early 1960s, albeit written in a (hopefully) unique writing style. The story involves Detective Roscoe Hardy, a middle-aged detective who has grown unhappy with the tedium of his work and his life, until he gets the case that will make or break his career. A man with amnesia hires Roscoe to help him find out who he is. The only clue he has is a piece of paper with an address, a room number, a date a few days in the future, and a specific time. As Roscoe investigates, he comes across murder, corruption, colorful characters, and a plot that could affect national politics for—well, a few years, at least. Unlike the other million noir-esque novels out there, An Affair to Forget is satirical, poking fun at standard tropes and clichés, without losing sight of the fact it is still a mystery novel.
