Abstract
My research problem is to determine the reasons for the victory of Representative Charles Halleck over the imcumbent party leader Joseph Martin. An intra-party fight such as this does not often occur. There is normally very little chance to make a study of this particular phenomena of politics. Answers to the Halleck-Martin fight will help establish a means of investigating and studying other intra-party fights. The study will be limited to the factors which seemed to be of most importance at the immediate time of the fight.
