Abstract

On average 2.5 million students choose an undecided major during their first year at college. This number gets even higher when we include the number of students who change their majors after the first year. I have come up with a solution by using trending jobs at a given location by extracting data from a job listing website (www.indeed.com) that includes data science skills. This program that I created will give an idea about the job market as different states have different industries as trending work places. Students can use this data to build confidence in choosing their career. This will reduce the number of students who change majors because they know what jobs are trending and thus which one(s) to pursue.
