Abstract

The world has recently fallen into a state of controversy in regards to the topics of being transgender, being non-heterosexual, and receiving abortions. These topics all seemingly involve a degree of moral ambiguity, as the public as a whole is currently unable to reach a single conclusion as to what the correct way to legislate them is. This thesis aims to shed light on these topics through an exploration of how they existed throughout history, and how the people of the past viewed them. There is seemingly no singular correct method for ending the controversy surrounding these topics, but with some exploration of their existence throughout human history, perhaps some level of perspective can be gained into how not to repeat the mistakes of the past and how to continue past successes. Although these topics may never be regarded by the public in a manner that would be considered “perfect,” or “ideal,” it is certainly possible for improvements to occur.
