A review of marriage : past, present, and future : an honors thesis (HONRS 499)

The purpose of this paper is to first give an overview of what the term "marriage" means and how it has evolved. There are several different types of marital institutions that can be found in other countries. The current changing trends of marriage are discussed as well as the increasing divorce rate. In addition, research done on cohabitation and single parenthood are summarized. Predictions about the future of marriage are taken from Marriage and the Family in the Year 2020.
