Abstract

In using the PVEST, this study explored the experiences, perspectives, and challenges of Black women attending a predominantly white institution according to the narratives they shared via TikTok. In all thirty-two TikTok videos were analyzed using RADAR. From the uploaded videos, we identified three main themes: experiences of racism on campus, anecdotes of coping and survival, and educational challenges in response to experiences of racism. Preliminary findings suggest Black women use TikTok as a reactive coping mechanism after a stressful event. Findings have implications for addressing commonly shared experiences of racism, as well as creating counter spaces on campus for Black women.
