Representation of women in newspapers : an honors thesis (HONRS 499)

The Review of Related Literature summarizes major studies, primarily from the 1980s and 1990s, that have examined the presence of women on the front pages of professional newspapers in the United States, as well as internationally. The studies included in the Review of Related Literature looked as the existence of women's bylines, if and how women were referenced as sources in stories, if and how women were portrayed in photographs and what kinds of stories women most often wrote for the front pages of newspapers.
