Abstract
The Thesis Book is the culmination of a process designed to give the architecture student a chance to experience and develop those abilities needed to successfully complete those services an architect would offer a client. The architectural thesis covers all aspects of the design process, from defining the program and its critical issues thru schematic design, design development, and finally presentation of the design and its process. By necessity, the process is abstracted to a large degree due to time factors and the size of the project itself. This Thesis Book is designed to give the reader an overview of the process and thoughts that occurred throughout the project and explain how these thoughts, processes, and approaches used led to the final product – The Clinical Research Center. The organization of the book is set up to give the reader a quick summary of the project background, followed by the final design solution which includes the final presentation drawings. After this point, the process is explained in chronological order to aid in understanding the design process and the resolution of various aspects of the project.Throughout the book, incorporation of original drawings, diagrams, and explanations are used, for they explain more accurately the process and thoughts incurred throughout the course of the project. Therefore, the book appears informal in terms of its format. Where it was necessary to condense material, small sketches accompanied by explanations are used. Otherwise, throughout the book, sketches and graphics are the main source of explanation and content with accompanying notes added to further explain important ideas.
