My Senior Honors Recital incorporated the vocal music of several 19th and 20th century composers and featured several genres of music as well. The goal of the project was twofold: first, to prepare and perform challenging and interesting repertoire for an audience of family, friends, professors, and community members, and second, to write an artist's statement detailing the process of creating a song recital. In the artist statement that follows, I describe the procedures of selecting the repertoire, researching the repertoire, preparing vocally, creating the progran1, and reflecting on the final performance.
