Abstract

Nursing 430 is a senior-level nursing class that studies critical care nursing topics. The clinical portion of the class involves caring for patients in the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, and the Emergency Department at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. The information collected was gathered over a series of twelve-hour shifts on one of these three 2 hospital units. Information was gathered from the patient's electronic chart, patient and/or family reports, and discussions with the nurses and doctors providing care for the patient. These case studies discuss the care provided to my patients throughout their hospital stay, and discusses the reasoning behind the care provided.
