Abstract

Music is among the universal languages of our society. Holding immense power to tell our stories, music maintains an awesome capacity to unite humanity through shared experiences. The stories each composition shares are unique and are often left up to the interpretation of both the musician(s) and the listener(s), and other times the lyrics (when presented) can offer an outline of the story. The traditional music of the British Isles is no exception to this. The stories and the emotions this genre can convey are endless and without a doubt, they are moving and powerful. This recital focused exclusively on this genre of music and shared an overarching story of loss and a yearning for wholeness through ten pieces.
