Abstract
This creative project, in pursuit of questioning the impact and influences that narration may have on the perceived truth and objectivity of a story, has yielded three 30-minute documentary films that focus on the historical and present-day effects of neighborhood segregation in Muncie, Indiana. The mission of this creative project was to examine the uses of narration in narrative documentary filmmaking. In doing so, the three documentaries created tell the exact same story, however, one does not include any narration, one includes narration, and the third includes audio and visuals of the narrator. During the creation of this creative project, great consideration was given to the ideas of objectivity, truth, credibility, and integrity, as well as how those ideas intersect with documentary filmmaking and narration.
