Abstract

This project is intended to explore the changes made by nonprofit organizations in the one-year span since the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of COVID-19 were lifted. When the pandemic began in March of 2020, our nation was plunged into a prolific period of change which challenged the status quo. Millions of small businesses found themselves unsure of their future, while thousands closed their doors for good. The nonprofit sector was no exception to these hard times, which forced long standing nonprofit organizations to find new ways to conduct business in a world postponed by a global pandemic. This project examines how members of five nonprofit organizations have revised their business model to be more successful in the years since the pandemic began. Through their struggles, each of those interviewed have found inventive ways to conduct business more efficiently and effectively than ever before.
