Nine week insect unit : [an honors thesis] (HONRS 499)

I chose to create a nine week unit plan over insects that is closely aligned with the Indiana Academic Standards. As teachers, we are expected to teach so much information in so little amount of time. Usually, the things that get cut out of the curriculum are Science and Social Studies. It is important for educators to find ways to incorporate Science and Social Studies into their Language Arts and Math curriculum. It is also important that students have the opportunity to learn through observation and discovery. This unit is designed around doing these things. It provides detailed lesson plans and all of the resources necessary to carry out these plans. The plans in this unit integrate Science into other areas of the curriculum in a hands-on, fun, and exciting way.
