Abstract

William Shakespeare is one of the best and most well-known playwrights in the English language. His timeless works transcend any medium, and, centuries after their creation, his plays are still read and performed over and over, countless times and in countless ways. Hamlet is possibly his greatest piece, and its story of love, murder, friendship, betrayal, revenge, and tragedy continues to entertain, delight, and touch the minds of human beings everywhere. This is the first act of Hamlet told in a fantasy world, where the swashbuckling and supernatural elements of the play fit very well alongside magic and the fantastical. Of the many stories in Hamlet available to be told, this is one artist's interpretation and perspective. Written in modem language, this story will hopefully be accessible to those who know little of Shakespeare, and will hopefully encourage them to go on to explore his original, beautiful works.
