Abstract

In this creative project, the Montessori Method and Jensen’s brain-based learning approach are examined for possible application for adult ESL learners with little or no education in factory settings. Both of these methods are discussed and compared with the methods of Asher, Curran, Gattegno and Lozanov. Observations were made at a Montessori school and discussions were conducted with the teachers and staff of the school to obtain first-hand information and to observe the method as it is utilized in today’s Montessori schools. The use of concrete examples demonstrates the factors involved when applying these two methodologies in an Adult ESL classroom. It is concluded that the insights offered by Montessori and Jensen regarding the environment and diverse channels are useful in adult ESL learners in factory settings.
