Abstract
As time continues on, so does the technology of the day. Our technology of today has taken a lot of the necessity of hands on work away and automated those tasks. Today in Microbiology once an isolate has been obtained and the gram reaction determined the identification of the organism is left up to the automation once inoculated into the system's identification reaction tray. There are many manufacturers of these rapid identification methods. A few of them will be compared with time utilization and cost effectiveness in mind. The need for rapid identification of the organism is essential in today's society for industry (product marketability) and medically (rapid patient treatment).
