Abstract

Sustainability, is it affordable? Can the average homeowner sustainability retrofit their home with easy and quick methods? What do homeowners need to make the right choices? Grounded in a literature review, this study uses qualitative research methods: interviews, observations, and document review to discover materials and techniques homeowners in East Central Indiana can use that are affordable while also being sustainable. Findings reveal that for homeowners to sustainability retrofit their home, they first need to understand the term sustainability. This creative project leans on existing literature and the data collected to develop a brochure for East Central Indiana homeowners to easily navigate their retrofit project with sustainability as the focus. Topics include: the definition of sustainability, affordable sustainability, different products that promote sustainability, and the health factors that relate to sustainability.
