Abstract

Although the residence hall directors on the Hall State University Faculty are believed to be professionally qualified to assist students with academic, social, and personal problems, there is very little empirical knowledge concerning the individuals in this diverse group. This lack of studies concerning the personality characteristicsof residence hail directors is cause for concern and presents a fertile area for investigation, especially when one considers that the type of personality possessed by the individual director dicates how he will think, feel, and interact with students under his supervision. In light of the above reasoning, it seems appropriate that meaningful data should be gathered which would enable the author to ascertain the personality characteristics which are possessed by the thirty-five professional residence hall directors employed by Ball State University.
