White Elephant is a horror/comedy feature-length speculation screenplay set during the season of Christmas. The horror in the story is rooted in a slasher aspect—a masked killer dressed as Santa Claus named Secret Santa. There is also character based horror, never addressing the elephant in the room at the expense of someone else. The comedy angle comes from situational humor, the personality of the characters, and their relationship with one another. There is an underlying cynicism of dry humor as well that clashes with the spirit of Christmas. The story follows an ensemble cast, centered mainly around Dakota Lynn—a young woman haunted by her past. One year after a tragedy that occurred during their senior year Christmas, she reunites with her former college friends that are now all estranged to play their traditional game of White Elephant.
