Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe a series of studies in which client reassignment processand related separation anxiety were examined. Most graduate counseling and clinical psychology programs include an experiential component in which students counsel clients under supervised conditions. Often the student completes his or her practicum training before the counseling needs of the client are met. The client is then reassigned to a new counselor.
