Abstract
It is obvious that we are bombarded with persuasion by television, radio, newspapers, and periodicals. Some of the persuasion has controversial content. Persuasion with controversial content is frequently labeled as propaganda. On the basis of readings in SPCH 521, i.e., Jacques Ellul PROPAGANDA, propaganda emerges with a negative connotation. Some people regard propaganda as an unethical technique of mass persuasion. For many people, propaganda is bad, and anything to which the word propaganda is applied is bad.The study proposes to research definitions of propaganda from original sources to determine to what extent the writers on propaganda assert that propaganda is a neutral term but in which the writers conclude by giving propaganda a negative connotation.
