Second Best is an animated short film which brings to life the tale of a young inventor, Fizz Gearsprocket, as he attempts to overcome the expectations set upon him by his father. Through the trials of friendship, Fizz gains a sense of self-realization and comes to terms with the fact that falling slightly short others’ expectations is not an equivalent to failure. An underlying moral of accepting one’s own achievements in life and not taking for granted their success is presented through a compelling story of friendship, sacrifice, and self-actualization. The creation of this film has served as a comprehensive experiment in visual storytelling, collaboration, and growth as an artist.
