Abstract
My goal here was to create a series of sonically stimulating poems focused around central themes of toxicity in relationships, the complexity of pain, and simply growing up. This project was influenced by the surrealist movement as well as by the school of spoken word poetry. More than just that, the poetry is driven by sound, and therefore influenced by language, music, and other aspects of my auditory senses rather than simply written word. I aim to introduce a multi-dimensional walk through poetry, using the sounds to make readers feel more from the work than solely the meaning of each individual word. The sounds breed an atmosphere for the readers to wander through— a place to be absorbed.
