Abstract
This research paper has presented an evaluation of immigration integration policies, to be recommended for Fort Wayne, Indiana to utilize. Based on the review of published literature, trends, conditions, and city practices, a set of safe and effective practices were identified using a rubric created for this paper. The purpose for crafting a rubric was to identify practices that were legal within the state of Indiana and fit within the current capacity of Fort Wayne. The best practices that were identified focus on improving local government action, economic opportunity, community involvement, and social awareness and inclusion to help immigrants in the community. The findings of this research will allow Fort Wayne to expand existing services, resources, and talent to help improve the local integration process. Findings from this research will also further encourage local integration efforts in other communities with similar obstacles and help those areas establish a more inclusive and equitable community for future immigrants.
