Abstract

The piece, Kerry Turner's "The Casbah of Tetouan," for horn ensemble presents unique challenges to musicians. An interview with horn player and composer Kerry Turner helps to clarify certain areas of the piece. Preferences of Turner are also revealed through questioning. This creative project briefly explores the steps to properly prepare a piece of music for performance. Although these steps can be applied to guide multiple types of ensembles and types of music, the focus is on horn ensemble and "The Casbah of Tetouan."
