How gender & sexuality changes the narrative of a film

Abstract

This creative project is exploring how gender and sexuality can change the narrative of a film. The project will consist of three short films, five pages in length. Each film will have the same narrative and be shot identically to each other. The only thing that will change among the three will be the couples playing the lead roles. The first film will feature a straight couple, the second a gay couple and the last a lesbian couple. The narrative will be a completely original piece separate from anything previously written. The narrative will remain the same for all three films with the exception of using proper pronouns for each couple. The script is a romantic drama about a young couple navigating their lives after moving in together. It shows the beginning, middle and end of the couple’s relationship. During production every shot will be done with the three sets of couples to avoid inconsistencies between the films, and to make sure that all three are completely identical besides the character changes
