Abstract

In this fantasy/horror screenplay, seventeen-year-old Lyla Banks wants to see the world before she succumbs to terminal cancer. Her last stop is Venice, traveling with her distant classmates who often leave her behind. One night, Lyla stumbles into a Carnival party and becomes trapped in an alternate version of Venice. Jack, the creator of False Venice, assures Lyla that he will fix this problem and return her home. However, once Lyla and Jack grow closer, and Lyla pushes a friend away, she will be thrown head-first into dangerous magic and a centuries-old vendetta. As Lyla’s closest friends try to use her for their own ends, she must break free and take control of her own life.
