Cooking made easy : 20 recipes for every cook : an honors thesis [(HONRS 499)]

Abstract

The process of creating a book, from initial idea to finished product, is an involved one, especially when developing a cookbook. The author chooses the recipes to include, and then either the author or a recipe tester makes each dish to take notes on the process and to work out any problems. The author writes each recipe to be clear and concise, while adhering to a style sheet to make sure that the writing style is consistent throughout the entire book. A food photographer takes a picture of every finished recipe, paying attention to every detail in order to make every photograph look as mouth-watering as possible. A print designer puts all the text and photographs together into a page layout, deciding on sizes, colors, and fonts for the book. The file is prepared to go to press, and multiple copies are printed. The books then go through the finishing process, which includes printing the cover, laminating, folding, assembling, and binding. Usually each of these steps is accomplished by one person or a group of people. In order to experience the whole process myself, I have created a cookbook from start to finish, doing each step along the way. The finished product is a cookbook of twenty easy-to make desserts that are geared towards the novice cook.
