Prerequisite requirements for entering genetic counseling training programs : an honors thesis (HONRS 499)

Abstract

The field of genetics is rapidly expanding into new and exciting areas. One of these areas is the field of genetic counseling. Genetic counseling is relatively unknown to many people, and those that are interested in it may not know what steps to take in order to enter the field. A comprehensive resource is needed to help in this endeavor. I went about compiling information as a resource for students interested in this field, so that they can be prepared to enter an accredited genetic counseling training program. Specific requirements for undergraduate work as well as personal attributes and skills were compiled as a resource for potential genetic counseling students.
