The cultural responsiveness of housing education

Abstract

Cultural responsiveness is a term used by many educators in regards to providing a representative classroom environment to all students. Cultural responsiveness is key to creating a classroom culture of inclusiveness and therefore can be applied to more than race, ethnicity, etc. With research about the meaning and purpose of cultural responsiveness in an educational setting, this term can be applied in a broader sense to include teaching about a diversity of students’ housing situations that include students that live in multifamily housing, manufactured home, or those who are homeless, creating an inclusive classroom for all students from all situations and backgrounds.
