An initial application for teaching chemical reactions with rule-based transformations

Abstract

Working with my mentor Dr. Ergin, we produced an application that will teach students about chemical reactions in an interactive way. We worked through the process of gathering requirements with a domain expert, Chris Norton, a chemistry teacher. Then we designed an application that met those requirements and will serve as a tool for future research into teaching methods. Particularly for research involving rule-based systems for teaching, as well as interactive classroom tools for chemical reactions.
