Abstract
The gothic and horror genre has been a part of the pop culture world for ages. While it is typically used as a form of entertainment, the genre itself is actually incredibly complex and often serves a greater purpose than solely to entertain. The horror and gothic genre have relevance to reality in the sense that many works feature an underlying message. My thesis examines specific characteristics of the gothic and horror genre and adapts them into my own four creatives pieces: "Unexpected, But Not Unwelcome," "A Drive Through the Mountains," "The Dollhouse," and "When Tomorrow Comes."
