Abstract
The English learner (EL) population in the state of Indiana has been growing rapidly for more than a decade. This rapid growth has created opportunities for schools to expose native English-speaking students to new cultures while also encouraging schools to use and create in -school aid and after-school enrichment programs. For an after-school program to best benefit ELs, it must fit with the needs and resources of the school, communities, and students. This thesis will review research about after-school enrichment programs and outline the steps an outside source would consider taking to help ensure that the program being created and/or implemented meets the needs and expectations of the school, parents, and students.
