Hablar o no hablar : oral communication in Spanish classrooms : an honors thesis [(HONRS 499)]

Abstract

Oral communication is an important aspect of learning a foreign language. However, it seems that many foreign language classes are lacking in activities that support oral communication. Throughout my sixteen weeks at Highland High School, where I student taught, I wanted to see how I could implement more oral communication activities into the Spanish classroom and discover how these activities affected students' content knowledge. Over the course of a unit I conducted an action research project that allowed me the opportunity to assess students' performance in the Spanish language after being subjected or not being subjected to various communication activities. The results will benefit my teaching in the future.
